Rosie — November 2010
I logged onto the internet in search of basset rescues. No listings were available within driving distance of Saskatoon; however, I did see a four year old female basset available in Minnesota with special needs. Although Minnesota is a long way from Saskatoon, as luck would have it, on the upcoming weekend, my sister Jennifer and her family were to be driving from their home in Atlanta. This seemed as if it was meant to be. Rosie and I have been together now for over five years. With the exception of two brief episodes of pack pain, likely incurred through overly exuberant play with her canine friends, she remains healthy. She still comes running at full force with her long ears blowing back, abundant jowls flopping about, and her un-coordinated hind end swaying from side to side like a derailed loose caboose.
Rosie and I would like to thank Kari and all the dedicated staff and volunteers who assisted in making our match possible.
