about rpaw

Rescued Pets Are Wonderful is a nonprofit group of volunteers dedicated to finding loving homes for rescued dogs and cats, and educating the Twin Cities community about responsible pet ownership and overpopulation. Since 2004, RPAW has rescued and rehomed almost 4,000 animals.

RPAW is completely volunteer-based and relies on donations and adoption fees to continue its mission. There is no physical shelter, all animals are hosted in private foster homes or in adoption centers at local pet supply stores. Potential adopters can find animals up for adoption online at rpaw.org and petfinder.com, and at adoption events and several local adoption centers.

Where to RPAW rescues come from?

Each year in the U.S., over 8 million animals stray or unwanted animals find themselves in shelters or animal control facilities. RPAW works with several local animal control facilities to save unclaimed animals that may otherwise be euthanized. We also take in animals surrendered by owners who can no longer care for them. Once animals are taken into our program, we provide them with lots of love, a temporary home and veterinary care. Each rescued animal remains in the care of RPAW volunteers until a suitable forever home is found.

What does the adoption fee include?

When you adopt an RPAW rescue, your fee includes:

  • Up-to-date vaccinations
  • Spay or neuter
  • Heartworm testing
  • Feline leukemia testing (cats)
  • Rabies vaccine (when age-appropriate)
  • All other necessary veterinary care
